Re: If I wanted to start learning a bit about Okito coin box work...

Sinbad Max sells the routine (which includes an Okito box) for a very reasonable thirty bucks or so. It's awesome. https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S22276 The last cool bit (sound of the coin slowly disappearing) was created by my friend Craig Ousterling and was actually taught in Genii some months ba...

Re: Genii Convention 2019 Schedule

Sounds like it was a good one! I have the same reaction to magic conventions and really only can take one a year. I don't know how these people go to more than that. This was the only year I've ever gone to two (GGG and Genii). GGG is so convenient for me (i.e. I can drive to it, it's inexpensive, ...

Re: Genii Convention 2019 Schedule

Sounds like it was a great convention. Yeah, though have to admit, perhaps one day too long for me. The last day I had a bit of "magic" fatigue and skipped about half the events. However, this let me spend more time with some old friends and make some new ones which is always a priority for me. Ove...

Re: Genii Convention 2019 Schedule

Last day today, was sort of binged out on too much magic, so skipped a few lectures, shows in lieu of some rest and general hanging around. Last day meant a lot more sessioning in the lobby and got to spend quality time with Kent Gunn, the Millers (Tony ad Rosey) Curtis Kam, Craig and Candy Ousterli...

Re: Genii Convention 2019 Schedule

Paul Harris is always interesting to talk to. What did you discuss? Well, the conversation had a few people drop in and out. Ian Kendal, myself, Paul and a very nice lady who was bringing her young autistic son to the convention. Lisa Menna joined in and we talked for almost an hour. Discussed Paul...

Re: Genii Convention 2019 Schedule

Yikes, too tired for much of an update today, but awesome again. A very nice performance by Mike Vincent, with a few items I had seen before but was happy to see again. Did I mention that Gaetan Bloom is all kinds of awesome? His linking pins is really clever. "49 Boxes" is something I can't really ...

Re: Genii Convention 2019 Schedule

Day two. Finally got over jet lag and was more social. Started the morning (8 freakin' AM) with Ian Kendall. Lots of fun, kind of off the cuff. Full house, needs a bigger room for tomorrow. Mickael Chatelain lectured on some incredible gaffs and showed how to make an effect flap card in less than fi...

Re: Genii Convention 2019 Schedule

Dealer room was really busy. Really jet lagged, so that kinda gave me a headache. Had fun seeing Tony, Rosey and Kent Gunn. Paul Harris is here and sort of floating around talking to everyone. Curtis Kam showed up later in the evening. Tom Gagnon lecture had great material, but I was really tired an...

Re: Genii Convention 2019 Schedule

Ok, just got to the Hotel, said hi to Richard Kaufman, ran into Jeff Prace (who I met at GGG) and now it's time to decompress, cleanup and register. I'll take some photos to share since I hardly ever see any from this convention.

Re: If I wanted to start learning a bit about Okito coin box work...

Chris,, "Okito Reversembly" is in an old issue of Magic Magazine. I assume you know about the index? http://www.magicmagazine.com/x/search Just go here and search on Chad Long. It's the first result that comes up. Then look it up on the Genii site. Kent - That's another fun one! Ah found it. Magic ...

Re: If I wanted to start learning a bit about Okito coin box work...

Chris, This routine does not match up to most of the routines listed. https://youtu.be/J9cU6qGGv9o But, starting Wednesday, if you bring your box to Florida you could get personal instruction from the creator. Plus it is really easy KG Looks good Kent. Not sure if I'll bring my Okito, which is a he...

Re: Today's Daiso Haul

It might be worth mentioning that if you live in an area without a Daiso store (like I do), they have a web presence and sell stuff like rubber bands online. I saw that, but didn't share, as those aren't the bands that I've verified to work. They *might* work, but also aren't the bright colors that...

Also, take a look at Chad Long's "Okito Reversembly" where he uses an Okito box in a Matrix-type routine. Very clever combo of moves and gaff.
Yeah, it's ten bucks at Vanishing Inc. Very fine routine, but I'll hold off until I get a matching Okito box for my Buddha Box.

Re: Today's Daiso Haul

Yeah, the "Herbert" (5 color) bands were a little hard to find this trip and I initially didn't see them. The boxes were stacked a lower shelf below all the other stuff and they had a large stock of them (probably 20-25 boxes).

Re: Today's Daiso Haul

Circle cutter is not recommended. Doesn't work well through thickness of a card. Would probably be OK for regular paper.

Today's Daiso Haul

Took my daughter to the local Daiso Store (Japanese Store) Everything in the store is a buck fifty unless marked otherwise. So this constitutes $7.50 total plus tax. (All items $1.50) Click to enlarge. DaisoHaul2.jpg Upper right hand corner are "Herbert Bands", absolutely perfect for that effect. My...

It's one of those routines you can almost learn just by watching the video, but at $10 it's a reasonable price.
Yeah, some basic palming and the turnover move. Really appreciate the straightforward nature of it and will probably pick it up.

Also, take a look at Kostya Kimlat's Okito box routine - very simple and direct, and practical:

Agreed, and evidently not too tough technically. Also uses a regular box.

Re: If I wanted to start learning a bit about Okito coin box work...

I thought about buying the matching "boston" version of my buddha box, but it seems premature. I want to learn some of the basic routines that don't require that (or switching it in).
